Will Tukuafu: Mormon Athlete
William Tukuafu is an American professional football player. As fullback he was with the Seattle Seahawks in 2010 as an undrafted free agent. He returned to the Seahawks in 2014 where he is currently playing. With the Seahawks, he played in Super Bowl XLIX. From 2010 to 2014, he played for the San Francisco 49ers, making the team on a tryout. He played with the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII. He reached an injury settlement from a concussion with San Francisco early in the 2014 season.
Tukuafu was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on January 3, 1984. He played football in high school (East High) and at both Scottsdale Community College (for one year) and the University of Oregon. During his three seasons at Oregon, he collected bottles and cans from the Ducks’ locker room for the recycling money. Coming from a large family of sixteen children, with his parents working as janitors, Tukuafu carries on a strong work ethic. He majored in political science and was named the Ducks’ outstanding defensive lineman and most inspirational player as a senior. He was second-team All-Pac-10 as a senior.
Tukuafu and his wife, Krystal, are the parents of two children. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which he is a member.
