Summer Allen
Summer Harper Allen is an elite runner who finished her college career at Weber State University. In 2021, she earned All-American honors in the 3,000 meters steeplechase by finishing eighth at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and competed for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team in the Olympic Trials with a time of 9:38.61 in the first race (14th place) and 9:40.22 in the next (11th place).
Summer is a graduate in exercise and sports science and is pursuing a Master of Education degree.
She began her Weber State career in 2013 and won the Big Sky’s cross country championship. She committed to WSU despite being from Utah County and having siblings who ran at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley.
She has encountered setbacks in her college career. She had a knee injury during her freshman year. In the fall of 2016, she broke her foot in her second cross country race of the season. During the summer of 2018, she injured her shoulder on a bike ride. She missed the 2019 season due to pregnancy.
Summer is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and began her service as a missionary in Roseville, California, in August 2014.
Her husband, Christian, is also an elite runner. Both of them claimed All-American status for the second time this year in the November 2021 NCAA cross-country nationals. They have a son named Miles.
