Jerica Tandiman

Jerica Tandiman is an Olympic speed skater, having competed in the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea in the 1,000-meter long track.

Jerica is from Kearns, Utah, and began skating in 2002 after the Utah Olympic Oval was built near her home.

“I was about 7 years old, and my parents had my older sister and I go there to learn to skate.” I saw the speed skaters training and I thought that looked pretty cool,” she remembers. “I wanted to race people. I wanted to be the fastest.”

Jerica is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and tries to be a good example wherever she goes. “I do get a lot of questions. People are interested in what I believe and why. … Being from Utah, a lot of my teammates from around the U.S., well, people know, if you’re from Utah, there is a chance you’re Mormon. I’m like their go-to when they have questions.”

Jerica’s parents, Edwin and Christine Tandiman are the Indonesia Jakarta Mission president and companion (2021–present).

Jerica earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from BYU Hawaii. She works in Salt Lake City.
