Fui Vakapuna

Fui Vakapuna is a former professional football fullback. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. He was released by the Bengals after the preseason and signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. On November 3, 2009, the Bengals re-signed him. In 2011, he was on the Indianapolis Colts practice squad. The summary of his NFL career is “four teams, four training camps, two practice squads, no games played.” And he earned considerable money.[1]

He was signed by the New York Jets on May 23, 2012, and waived with an injury settlement on August 1, 2012.

Vakapuna is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a missionary in Carlsbad, California.

He was hired as the Assistant to the Athletic Director for Student Services at Brigham Young University in 2013 and is currently Student Success and Inclusion Counselor. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sociology from BYU in 2009 and played football for BYU from 2006 to 2009.

Vakapuna and his wife Leonne Hunkin have three children.
