Ben Hammond
Ben Hammond is an American sculptor and painter. He earned a degree in illustration from Ricks College.
Hammond was raised in a small town in Idaho. He has received numerous awards for his work, including Best of Show Bronze for ten years at the SculptureWalk in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For three consecutive years, he was awarded the Dexter Jones Award for his work in bas-relief from the National Sculpture Society.
He was selected to compete in The National Competition for Figurative Sculpture where he was awarded the prestigious Charlotte Geffken prize in 2010 and 2011.
The Utah Legislature voted in 2018 to send the statue of Martha Hughes Cannon, the first female state senator in Utah and the nation, to represent Utah in the National Statuary Hall Collection in the U.S. Capitol, where two figures of historic significance represent each state. Hammond’s sculpture of Cannon replaced inventor Philo T. Farnsworth.
In the fall of 2017 he completed an over-life-size monument with eight figures for the Utah Women’s Walk currently located at Thanksgiving Point Gardens in Lehi, Utah.
Hammond has completed over thirty-five portrait busts for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He teaches sculpture workshops throughout the United States.
