Mark I. Choate is an associate professor in the Department of History at Brigham Young University. He is also an adjunct research professor at the Strategic Studies Institute, U.S. Army War College.

His book Emigrant Nation: The Making of Italy Abroad (Harvard University Press, 2008) was awarded the Council for European Studies Book Award and the Marraro Prize.
