Brigham Young

Brigham Young was the second President of The Church and ranks among the most influential and important historical figures not just in Mormon history, but also in American history. Born in 1801, Brigham served as President from 1847 until 1877. As the leader of The Church, he led the Mormon community from persecution in Nauvoo, Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley and the population of the Mormon Church grew from 26,000 to over 115,000 members.
