James Empey is a professional football player. Following his graduation from Brigham Young University with a degree in finance, where he was a four-year starter, he signed a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys moments after the 2022 NFL Draft. His senior season at BYU was cut short by a fractured foot.

Shortly before the start of the 2022 season, Empey was waived and then picked up by the Miami Dolphins. He was elevated to active roster for the December 4, 2022, game.[1] He was signed by the Tennessee Titans after participating in Tennessee’s rookie minicamp in May 2023.

Empey is a native of American Fork, Utah, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a full-time missionary in Lisbon, Portugal. He is the son of former BYU coach Mike Empey. He married Maddie Bench.
