Ammon, Descendant of Zarahemla
Ammon, the descendant of Zarahemla, is not to be confused with the notable missionary Ammon, the son of Mosiah.
Ammon, the descendant of Zarahemla, is noted for his liberation of the people of King Limhi's people from Lamanite control. He executed Gideon's plan, as detailed in Mosiah 22, to give more wine to the Lamanites and the people of King Limhi departed by night into the wilderness. Ammon and his brethren led them back to the land of Zarahemla.
Ammon enters the life of King Limhi after Ammon and his brethren, Amaleki, Helem, and Hem, departed Zarahemla to find out what had happened to the people of Zeniff (see Mosiah 7). King Limhi, a descendant of Zeniff, comes across Ammon and his brethren and assumes they are the priests of King Noah. King Limhi had previously sent a group to discover the way back to Zarahemla, but they were unsuccessful. However, they suppose that the land of "dry bones" that they did find was the destroyed land of Zarahemla. They also found a record of those people they had found. Ammon tells King Limhi that King Mosiah is a seer and is able to interpret this record.[1]
