U.S. Congresswoman Celeste Maloy (R-Utah) was elected in a special election in 2023 after Representative Chris Stewart announced his resignation to care for his wife's health issues. Maloy was re-elected in 2024. Stewart endorsed Maloy, saying, “I encouraged her to run because I felt that she really was just so qualified and so prepared to kind of fill my shoes.”[1]

She was born in Cedar City and raised in small-town Hiko, Nevada, with her five siblings before attending Southern Utah University and earning a degree in agriculture.

Maloy was a soil conservationist for ten years for the Department of Agriculture in Beaver before earning her law degree from Brigham Young University. She then become a deputy attorney in Utah's Washington County. She also served as a public lands attorney for the Utah Association of Counties and a staff attorney for the Washington County Water Conservancy District.
