Dallas Reynolds: Mormon Athlete
Dallas Reynolds is an American professional football player. The Philadelphia Eagles signed him as an undrafted free agent in April 2009. The Eagles waived him in September, but re-signed him to the practice squad in October. The following December he was placed on the active roster. In September 2010, he was waived during final cuts and placed on the practice squad the following day, where he remained for the entire season. He was signed for a future contract in January 2011, but the following September he was waived in final cuts and placed on the practice squad again on the following day. He became a free agent at the end of the 2011 season, but was re-signed to the active roster in January 2012. After the center was placed on the injured list, Reynolds played in the second game.
The New York Giants signed Reynolds on October 1, 2013. He was released on October 5, 2013, but later re-signed and finished the season, appearing in three games. On February 19, 2015, the Giants re-signed him for one year.
Reynolds was born on April 23, 1984, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He played football during high school in Provo, Utah, and earned all-region honors. As a senior, he was team captain, and was a two-time Deseret News first-team All-state selection. He went on to play college football at Brigham Young University, where he played offensive tackle during his junior year and center during his senior year.
He comes from a football family: his father, Lance, has been at BYU as the associate head coach and running backs coach for more than twenty-eight years and played one season with the Eagles. His older brother, Lance Jr., played football for BYU, as a center, and played one season for the Seattle Seahawks. His younger brother Matt is a tackle with the Kansas City Chiefs, and his younger brother Houston is an offensive lineman for BYU.
Reynolds served as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which he is a member. Reynolds and his wife, Suzanne, are the parents of two children.
