Evie Clair: Mormon Singer
At the age of 13, Evie Clair Abplanalp was a top-ten finalist on television’s America’s Got Talent, season 12 (2017). She released her pop single “Love You One More Time” just before the season started. During the finale, she sang her original song “Okay Day” live with celebrity musician James Arthur. Evie is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Evie Clair started playing piano and singing at the age of two. She also plays guitar and ukulele. At the age of eight she performed in the Hale Theater in her native Arizona. She sang the National Anthem at an Arizona Diamondbacks game, and has released two original pop singles. The Arizona Interfaith Movement recognized her music video cover of “Take On Me” for promoting the Golden Rule. Her music video was presented at the Parliament of the World’s Religions. She recorded an album produced by Arizona Golden Rule Educational Experiences called “Stars Shine Brightly.”
Evie won a contest to sing the theme song for the movie Once There Was a Beehive and performed it live for the movie premiere. Her original song “For You” is included on the movie soundtrack.
Evie is the daughter of Amos and Hillary Abplanalp. Her father passed away in early September 2017 due to stage 4 colon cancer. Evie was competing on the show while he battled the disease. He was serving as his ward’s bishop at the time of his death. The show’s creator, Simon Cowell, gave Evie the opportunity to come back for the show’s next season.
