Gary L. Crittenden

Gary L. Crittenden is a financial manager and business executive known particularly for his work at Citigroup.

Crittenden was born in 1953 and reared in Ogden, Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Management in 1976 and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1979. His career began with his employment as a consultant at Bain and Company. He then served as CFO and executive Vice President at Melville Corp. While at Melville, he was the architect of the breakup of the company that led a significant increase in share price as the company was split into three firms. From 1997 to 1998 he was CFO of Sears Roebuck and Company. He went onto serve as CFO at Monsanto from 1998 to 2000. He was then CFO, executive vice president, and Global Network Services division chief at American Express. In 2007 he joined Citigroup as CFO and helped guide the firm through its financial crisis. In 2010 Crittenden settled claims made by the SEC without admitting wrongdoing in connection with Citigroup's exposure to subprime mortgage assets.

In April 2012 he was named CEO and managing partner of Huntsman Gay Global Capital (HGGC). He had been the CFO of Huntsman Gay since July 2009. He currently serves as the chairman of iQor, a global business process outsourcing services provider based in New York City. He has served on several corporate boards, including Filene’s Basement, Wilson’s Leather, Sears of Mexico and Sears of Canada, Ryerson, TJX Companies, Staples, and Primerica.

Crittenden is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as an Area Authority from April 2007 until April 2013. He has served as a bishop, stake president, and a full-time missionary to Germany.

He is a avid runner and cowboy at heart. He was given an honorary doctorate from Weber State University in 2003. He and his wife, Cathy, and three children lived in New Canaan, Connecticut until 2009 when they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.
