Gary and Colleen Worthington
Gary and Colleen Worthington retired from owning nine successful Subway franchises and founded their own successful chain of Kneaders Bakery and Café locations.
The Worthingtons pursued their interest in scratch-made artisan breads by training at both the American Institute of Baking and San Francisco Baking Institute. They worked closely with Lehi Roller Mills to develop an exclusive flour mixture and located the ideal traditional hearth-stone oven in Italy. Their first bakery opened in Orem, Utah, in 1997, and they served European hearth breads. Within a few months they expanded to offering a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads, and pastries. The stores also sell a variety of home and seasonal décor.
Kneaders has grown to over fifty locations in six western states. The Worthingtons and their six children each attended Brigham Young University. They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
