Heth, son of Com
Heth is a character in the Book of Mormon's Book of Ether. Heth is known for dethroning his father Com from his position as king of the Jaredites. Heth ruled in wickedness, killing the righteous and ordering others to kill the prophets. This brought the judgments of god on the Jaredites including famine (of which the prophets had testified) and poisonous serpents. Heth ultimately died by famine, along with all of his household, except for one of his descendents, Shez, who succeeded him to the throne.[1]
He is also noted in the genealogy of Ether listed in the first chapter of the Book of Ether as being the father of Shez and the son of Com.[2]
