Kent Christensen: Mormon Artist
Kent Christensen is artist who captures personal and societal associations with food, place, and culture. They also embrace the traditions of still life painting, religious iconography, and pop art. Cultural and social satire often factor into his work. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he often includes LDS culture in his art.
At one time he lived in New York and illustrated articles for national magazines like Time magazine, Sports Illustrated, and Business Week.
He was born in California in 1957 and grew up in Corona. During high school on Saturdays and after he graduated, he studied at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies and art history from Brigham Young University and pursued graduate work in fine art from the University of Utah.
He lives in Sundance, Utah. His work is sold almost exclusively at the Eleven Fine Art gallery in London, England.
