Richard D. Allred
Richard D. Allred is a former General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Second Quorum of the Seventy from April 1997 to October 2002. Prior to his call to the Seventy he presided over the Quezaltenango, Guatemala mission, was president of the Missionary Training Center in Guatemala City, and was president of the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. He was president of the San Antonio Texas East Stake at the time of his call. He has also served as a bishop, stake patriarch, and Regional Representative.
Allred was born on August 3, 1932, in Salt Lake City, during a family move from Escalante, Utah, to Shelley, Idaho. He obtained a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University and an MBA degree from the University of Arkansas. He was a career officer in the United States Air Force and retired in 1979. After his retirement, he was a business executive. Between his years as an Air Force avionics officer and his service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the family lived in many locales — Colorado, Missouri, California, Montana, Greece, Texas, Greenland, and Central and South America.
He and his wife, Gay, are the parents of three sons. In 2002, Richard and Gay settled in Logan, Utah. Gay passed away in 2019 and Elder Allred passed away on March 20, 2025, in Logan, Utah.
