Robert C. Freeman is the director of the Saints at War Project and coauthor of Saints at War: Experiences of Latter-day Saints in World War II. His work with Dennis A. Wright resulted in a KBYU documentary, a veterans conference held at Brigham Young University in November 2001, and an online collection of selected stories.

The effort also expanded to include the Korean conflict, the Vietnam War, and more recent conflicts.[1] It is an official partner of the Veterans History Project of the Library of Congress.

Freeman received a Creative Works Award with Wright from BYU for their contribution to the Saints at War documentary film series.[2]

With Andrew Skinner, he wrote Saints at War: World War I. He also wrote Saints at War: Inspiring Stories of Courage and Valor. He edited Nineteenth-Century Saints at War and contributed to Latter-day Saints in the Civil War.

Freeman is a professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University where he has been employed since 1996. He also served as the Associate Dean of Religious Education and Associate Chair in the Department of Church History and Doctrine. He obtained his juris doctorate from Western State University College of Law and is a member of the California and Utah Bars.
