Scot Facer Proctor: Mormon Photographer

Scot Facer Proctor is the cofounder and publisher of Meridian Magazine, an online magazine primarily for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Proctor is also a professional photographer. With his wife, Maurine, he wrote several photographic books, including A Day Like No Other: Joseph Smith and the First Vision; Witness of the Light: A Photographic Journey in the Footsteps of the American Prophet, Joseph Smith; Source of the Light: A Witness and Testimony of Jesus Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of All; Light from the Dust: A Photographic Exploration into the Ancient World of the Book of Mormon; and The Gathering: Mormon Pioneers on the Trail to Zion. They published a revised and enlarged edition of the Autobiography of Parley P. Pratt and edited The Revised and Enhanced History of Joseph Smith by His Mother.

He was raised in Rolla, Missouri, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University with a degree in motion picture and television production. He minored in political science and German. He served as a full-time missionary to Germany. He earned his master’s degree from Utah State University in instructional technology. For two years, he worked on post-graduate studies in international development at the University of Utah. He has had a lifelong interest in the ancient world and ancient scripture. He lived in Ankara, Turkey, on two separate occasions and continues to travel extensively. The Proctors have hosted tours to sacred sites worldwide, such as the Holy Land. He and his wife were part-time Institute teachers for many years.

The Proctors are the parents of eleven children and live in Alpine, Utah.
