Steven Kapp Perry
Steven Kapp Perry is an award-winning songwriter, playwright, and broadcaster. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Perry is the son of Douglas C. Perry and prolific songwriter Janice Kapp Perry. He studied Fine Arts and Communication at Brigham Young University and graduated in 1987. He performed with the BYU Young Ambassadors.
He broadcast numerous podcasts for The Cricket and Seagull Fireside Chat, which consisted of interviews with LDS authors, artists, singers, songwriters, and others. He also hosts the Soft Sunday Sounds on FM 100.3 radio station. He received the Faith-Centered Music Association Pearl Award for “Best Radio Show” consecutively for four years. He is also a music host for BYU’s Classical 89 radio station.
Perry has released fourteen albums of original music and has co-written several stage musicals, including Wedlocked (with Marvin Payne), which played at the Covey Center for the Arts. He has contributed songs to various compilations. He has also written for companies including National Geographic Children’s Television, Deseret Book, Prime Recordings.
He is also an accomplished singer. He sang the National Anthem at Wrigley Field for the Cubs and led the music in general conference.
Perry directs tours to Israel and Church History sites.
Perry is married to Johanne Frechette Perry and they have four children. They live in Cedar Hills, Utah.
