Ann Edwards Cannon: Mormon Writer
Ann Edwards Cannon is a writer, columnist, and creative writing teacher. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She has written several children’s and young adult novels under the name A. E. Cannon. She is a newspaper columnist, having written for the Deseret News and now the Salt Lake Tribune. [1] She has taught children’s and young adult literature at Westminster College and Brigham Young University. She works as a part-time bookseller at The King’s English Bookshop in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also leads discussions sponsored by the Utah Humanities Council’s Public Square program.
Her first young adult novel, Cal Cameron by Day, Spider-Man by Night, won the Delacorte Press Prize for an outstanding first young adult novel. Subsequent young adult novels, such as Amazing Gracie and The Shadow Brothers, have been named to the American Library Association’s Best Books list. She has written a series of early reader books featuring brothers Pirate Pete and Pirate Joe and their adventures. Her novel Charlotte’s Rose was reprinted in 2011, and her most recent work Sophie’s Fish was published in 2012.
She and her husband, Ken, have five sons and live in Utah.
