Anthony Sweat is a professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University. He is currently serving as chair of the Department of Church History. He worked for thirteen years with Seminaries and Institutes of Religion within the Church Educational System.

He has also published religious-based books with John Hilton III, such as Q&A: Common Questions and Powerful Answers, Why?: Powerful Answers and Practical Reasons for Living LDS Standards, How?: Essential Skills for Living the Gospel, The Big Picture: 20 Family Friendly Lessons on God’s Plan for You; Armor Up! and Suit Up: Hasten Your Preparation (with Hilton and Laurel Christensen Day). He also wrote Mormons: An Open Book, Christ in Every Hour, The Manly Book of Experiences: Journal, and I’m Not Perfect, Can I Still Go to Heaven?

He is perhaps best known for his books on the temple, The Holy Invitation: Understanding Your Sacred Temple Endowment and The Holy Covenants: Living Our Sacred Temple Promises. He also presented "The Unfolding Restoration Lesson 20: The Presentation of the Temple Endowment."

Sweat received a BFA in painting and drawing from the University of Utah and both MEd and PhD degrees in curriculum and instruction from Utah State University.

He is a regular speaker at Especially for Youth, Time Out for Women, and Education Week conferences. He and his wife, Cindy, are the parents of seven children.
