Category talk:Book of Mormon Groups
From MormonWiki
It looks like the categories "Book of Mormon People" and "Book of Mormon Groups" can be combined, especially as "Book of Mormon People" only has three members. Rickety 19:35, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- My opinion is the fact that there are only three subcategories within "Book of Mormon People" does not make a case to remove the category. It would be clearer if there was a MormonWiki policy on categories. In the absence of such a policy I have tended to be guided by the Wikipedia Policy on Categories. What would help is to add a brief explanation to each to category to make it clear the purpose of the category. --Steve 20:38, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
I wasn't clear enough. The three members under "Book of Mormon People" are Jaredites, Lamanites, and Nephites. These are included in "Book of Mormon Groups". Hence it is pointless to have both categories as they now stand. So when combining it makes sense to do away with the category with the least members, unless one category name is clearly superior to the other. Rickety 22:54, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- The items Jaredites, Lamanites, and Nephites under "Book of Mormon Groups" are articles rather than subcategories. If it is determined that we take a broad definition - that there is no distinction between people and groups, then my vote, even though it would mean more edits, would be to keep people as the more specific term and remove groups. --Steve 23:43, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
