Hildebrando de Melo: Mormon Artist
From MormonWiki
Hildebrando de Melo is a contemporary artist who uses spatulas, knives, and other tools to create his acrylic paintings. He sees his art as “creation from God.”[1] “We painters are an instrument in the hands of God, and we receive energy from him and only translate that energy into the art.”[2]
He was born in Bailundo, Angola, and raised in Angola until he was sent at the age of five to Portugal to live with his maternal grandmother when he became ill. After his grandmother joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hildebrando and his family also joined. He was fourteen years old at the time. He studied art in Portugal.
