Lee Allred
Lee Allred is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Image Comics, Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine, Baen Books, and short-fiction anthologies. He is known for his work on Batman ’66, the Legion of Superheroes, the Fantastic Four spin off, and the DC series BUG! The Adventures of Forager that he is creating with his artist brother Mike Allred.
Among his other jobs he lists on his website, he includes: “commercial artist, radar maintenance technician, cartographer, butcher's assistant, missionary, construction foreman, ranch hand, newspaper sports photographer, ditch digger, cyber transport technician, corporate cubicle warrior.”[1]
He cofounded Rookhouse Books, a press for offbeat genre fiction and has published novel For the Strength of the Hills and a short-fiction collection Assembled Allred.
He served in three rotations in Operation Iraqi Freedom for the US Air Force. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In an interview with LDS Living, he said, “My faith touches everything I write. As strange as it may sound, writing brings me closer to the gospel. Perhaps it is the act of creation that helps me better understand my Creator. I don’t quite understand it myself; all I know is writing makes me a better Latter-day Saint.”[2]
