Peter R. Huntsman
Peter R. Huntsman is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Huntsman Corporation.
Huntsman was born in 1963 to Jon and Karen Huntsman. He began working for Olympus Oil in 1983. In 1987, he was appointed vice president of Huntsman Polypropylene Corporation and later senior vice president and general manager. He has also served as senior vice president of Huntsman Chemical Corporation and as a senior vice president of Huntsman Packaging Corporation, a former subsidiary of the company. Prior to his appointment as CEO of Huntsman Corporation in 2000, he served as Chief Operating Officer since 1994. He also serves on various executive boards.
He also helps direct domestic and international humanitarian projects funded by the Huntsman companies and the Huntsman family. Some of the philanthropies include the Huntsman Awards for Education, the Huntsman World Senior Games, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. The Huntsman family has funded a multimillion-dollar twenty-year project to rebuild housing in the country of Armenia following an earthquake that killed more than 20,000 people. The school was dedicated in 2013.
Huntsman was honored with the Distinguished Service Award from Brigham Young University’s David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies in October 2011.
Huntsman is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His wife is the former Brynn Ballard. They are the parents of eight children.
