Daryl H. Garn was sustained as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy and General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in October 2002. He was released in October 2009 and began his service as president of the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Garn was born on December 28, 1938, in Tremonton, Utah, and raised on a twelve-acre farm in Fielding, Utah. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University and a DDS degree from Western Reserve University. He also earned a master’s degree in orthodontics from Temple University. He was an orthodontist for thirty-four years in Mesa, Arizona.

Gary and his wife, Irene, are the parents of six children. He has served in the Church as a bishop, high councilor, stake president, mission president’s counselor, regional representative, and an Area Authority. As a young man he served a full-time mission in the Western Canadian Mission.
