Vicki F. Matsumori was sustained as the second counselor in the Primary Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in general conference on Saturday, 2 April 2005. She was born on December 15, 1950, in Murray, Utah. Her parents were not members of the LDS Church, but they sent her to a local LDS congregation as a child. When Vicki was eight years old, she was baptized a member of the church. Later, when Vicki was in high school, her parents also became members of the Church. [1]
She earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and English with a teaching certificate from the University of Utah. She has taught junior high English and was an adjunct instructor at Salt Lake Community College. The Church has benefitted from her service as a member of the Primary General Board, member of a stake Relief Society board, ward Primary president, ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president, and Young Women adviser. Matsumori and her husband, James (married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1973), are parents of three children. [2]
